Family History

The Association asks visitors to note that in the majority of cases tracing former soldiers on behalf of relatives can be a very difficult and long task. Soldiers records that have survived the ravages of time and two world wars are kept at the UK National Archives in Kew, London. Association members have embarked upon the mammoth task of working to rebuild the nominal rolls of soldiers, officers and NCOs from the personal information that families may have about former soldiers who served with the Leinster Regiment, and by transcribing information from the surviving records held at the National Archives and contemporary newspapers.

With the help of the CWGC we have completed the project of identifying all the Leinster Regiment soldiers who were fatal casualties of WW1 and this database can be viewed here.

Currently underway as works-in-progress project is the rebuilding of the 'nominal roll', by volunteers from the information derived from soldiers families, the surviving records held at the National Archives and contemporary newspapers.

Visitors who are able to provide information or have requests for information are invited to try the soldiers form Please note that no guarantee is available on time scale taken to complete the research or even if records exist however one of our team will endeavour to assist you in due course. Where information is provided about a soldier we will enter that information into the nominal roll database.
